Tonight, we had our very own Rock Concert – Louise Style! This is the 6^th year we have been partnering with Jewish Chicks Rock. During this past week, four amazing camper bands have been learning about Jewish rock stars and rehearsing songs to perform in tonight’s show.

The goal of the program this year was to expose our campers and staff to powerful Jewish women who have influenced rock and popular music over the decades. The bands learned about the following musicians: Lesley Gore, Mama Cass Elliot (from the Mamas and the Papas), Carly Simon, and Susanna Hauf (from the Bangles).

The camper bands did an amazing job working together. They came in as individuals and grew into true bands throughout the week. They learned about the mechanics of music and they celebrated and supported each other. We had girls in bands who had never picked up an instrument before. It was quite a transformation this week. We may have some future musicians who got their start at Camp Louise! We will be able to say we knew them when…..
