Director’s Blog – July 16, 2015
It is so hard to believe that the first four weeks of camp have come to an end. It seems like yesterday that it was the first day of camp and the CITs were singing to all of the campers in the Dining Hall:
We welcome you to Camp Louise
We’re mighty glad you’re here
We’ll send the air reverberating with a mighty cheer
We’ll sing you in, we’ll sing you out
To you, we’ll raise a mighty shout
Hail, hail, the gang’s all here and you’re welcome to Camp Louise!
Fast forward to tonight. Picture this – the whole camp gathered in Solarium after Dance Concert under a dark sky. The CAs performed what has come to be known as our Separation Ceremony (think Havdallah-like). They shared quotes and a song and there were lots and lots of teary, teary campers (and some staff, too). We then talked about the Middah of the Week (gratitude) and how grateful we are to have such a special place to say good-bye to. As we watched our final slide show, there were cheers, as well as tears – and we sang our final Goodnight Song:
Another day has come to an end
I cherish every hour we spend
And I’m so glad you’re with me, my friend
At Airy and Louise
Tomorrow we will rise with the sun
Another day of camp’s big fun
We’ll make new memories one by one
At Airy and Louise
Goodnight, goodnight, it’s time to say
Lilah Tov, it’s the end of the day
Safe and warm in Sukkat Shalom
At peace in our summer home
Looking forward to seeing everyone back in 2016!
