Reflection

This picture was taken on the first night of camp, but I keep coming back to it because it tells such a great story.

Unit C (rising 6th graders) gathered for a campfire. They got together and the great Unit Leader of C started with an activity where campers were asked to write down three things:

-something that they are excited about for the summer

-something new that they want to try

-someone who inspires them

Spending time goal setting is really important here at camp. The days can be very long and so much is accomplished each and every day. Taking a moment to quietly think and reflect can be so beneficial and something that many of us don’t make enough time for in our “real lives.” But here at camp, it’s different.

Some campers commented on how much they are looking forward to the Adventure Park, Color Games, and making friends. They have high hopes to move up a level in mermaid training (swim instruction, but way cooler – remember, it’s all in the marketing). Whatever they chose to write down, the staff here is available to help them accomplish their goals and encourage them along the way.

Our fantastic songleader led the group in some good ‘ole camp favorites and some new songs as well, such as One Day, I’m Yours, The Hope, Riptide, Lean On Me, and Magnificence. And of course, the night ended with s’mores!

Think about what you are excited about, something new you want to try, and who inspires you…

G’nite!
