Add Your Name to the Donor Wall in the Camp Airy Dining Hall
For 100 years, Camps Airy & Louise has been a source of friendship, community, and lasting memories for thousands of campers, counselors, staff, alumni, and friends. Through camp, we are lucky and proud to be part of the camp family – a family who celebrates together, a family who supports each other, a family who pulls through during hard times.
We experienced one of those hard times almost two years ago – on June 29, 2022, a fire destroyed the Camp Airy Dining Hall. The dedicated Camp Airy staff tended to the campers that day, while Camp Louise jumped in to answer phones, provide meals and respond to whatever need might arise. Camp Airy and Camp Louise made it through that difficult day and the weeks that followed – resilient and together.
Eighteen months later, the new Dining Hall at Camp Airy is becoming a reality. Construction trucks are at Camp Airy daily, and we are counting down the days until we can utilize the new space. We are writing today because we need your help to get to the finish line!
The Camp Airy Dining Hall, often referred to as the White House, was more than just a place to enjoy meals. It was the beating heart of Camp and the first thing that greeted you at the top of the hill. Decades of campers and staff who walked the Camp Airy hill have memories which were formed in that White House – at meals, during Shabbat, and on rainy days. Throughout the years, the White House was an infirmary, office space, living quarters and storage. Its absence has left a void that we are committed to filling.
The new Dining Hall will cost approximately $10,000,000. While we have received disbursements from our insurance policy, there is still over a $1,000,000 shortage (even with the additional funds we have raised since the fire). We are extremely appreciative for the thousands of donations that we have received up until this point, totaling $720,000. As always, donations of any size are greatly appreciated.
Donor display plaques are available for purchase starting at $3,600, and each one will directly help fund the cost of the new Camp Airy Dining Hall. Plaques will remain available until they sell out. The new building will pay tribute to the White House with a signature wraparound porch, and have a beautiful Donor Wall at its entrance.
There are still major naming opportunities available. If you are interested in hearing more about them or have any questions, please reach out directly to Lauren Perlin, Co-Executive Director / Director of Development at 410-843-7340 or lauren@airylouise.org.
