Thurmont Carnival

Today was a big trip day here at camp. Our trainees headed out early this morning for their overnights – the STs (rising 10th graders) headed to Cedar Point Amusement Park in Ohio. The CAs (rising 11th graders) are spending their time hiking, canoeing, and biking in Harpers Ferry. The CITs (rising 12th graders) are rock climbing the Via Ferrata and hiking in West Virginia. All the groups have checked in with us, and they are all having a fantastic time!

Back in Cascade, Junior and Senior Camp enjoyed a morning of activities here at camp – filled with farming, multimedia, mermaid training (swim), athletics, dance, nature, outdoors, folkdance, music, arts and crafts, drama, and Israeli activities. This afternoon, we all bused over to the Thurmont Carnival to meet up with the boys from Camp Airy. The carnival was open just for us! We spent a couple of hours there riding on rides and being with friends.

Some campers invited me to join them on the giant ferris wheel. From way up on the top, we saw a gorgeous view of the mountains. It was incredible! Then, I looked down at a sea of green and navy camp shirts – all of our campers and staff. They were playing with friends, running to get in (very short) lines for rides, sitting together, laughing, and truly enjoying themselves. That was an even more beautiful sight to me than the mountains.

Before we knew it, it was time to load the buses and head on home to camp.

Now, it’s off to the Staff Talent Show – always good for a laugh or two.

Hope you are enjoying your day as much as we are enjoying ours!

G’nite!
